Brisbane is the third capital city in Australia, but it’s one of the fastest growing cities in our nation. It was once thought of as a little country town, but not anymore! Situated on the Brisbane River, there are plenty of things to do while in Brisbane.
First, let’s talk about the food game in Brisbane. Everyone always seems to say how good the food in Melbourne is, but Brisbane can easily rival it! There always seems to be something new to try in Brisbane.
Welcome to Bowen Hills is Brisbane’s newest food truck spot. Every day there are new food trucks to try out. From burgers to Mexican, garlic bread to gluten-free festivals, it’s one of the most fun food stops. Plus, it’s dog-friendly!
Mrs. Jones Cafe is probably the most aesthetically pleasing cafe spot in New Farm. This Instagram worthy stop offers some of the best brunches in Brisbane. The top recommendation is the soft serve acai!
Salt Meat Cheese is a little Italian restaurant located right next to Gasworks in Newstead. First opened on the Gold Coast, they’re well known for their Pizza and Pasta, along with plenty of drinks to choose from.
Don’t like Italian? Walk right on over to Gasworks to grab a Poke Bowl at Suki Burrito! Suki has plenty of seafood to offer, but they’re most well known for the Hawaiian meal of Poke. It’s a rice bowl loaded with tuna, salmon, prawns, and salad. Not sold? That’s ok because they also offer sushi burritos with your choice of fillings.
Prefer something a little more fancy? Eagle Street Pier has loads of nice restaurants. One to definitely impress your date, you can have anything from Japanese to Modern Australian food. One of the best-known restaurants there is Aria, which is run by Australian chef Matt Moran. You’ll only find the freshest Australian produce here.

Walk on over the Goodwill bridge to Brisbane City to see how far our little country town turned city has come.
Story Bridge climbs is a classic Brisbane activity! The heritage listed bridge opened in 1940 as residents of the time wanted a bridge which connected Kangaroo Point to the CBD. Climbers are taken by a guide all the way to the top of the Bridge where you have an impressive 360-degree view of the city with a perfect opportunity to snap a few pics from the Summit. For extra wow book a sunrise or sunset climb and see the City from a different angle.
